Quarter Round Nails through the floor?

by TJ

Thanks for your very informative site. I was wondering if there is a concern when nailing quarter-round, of the nails penetrating the floating floor and causing problems? Is the 45 degree angle enough to keep the nails from driving into the flooring?

How to Install Laminate Flooring
by: Diy AnY

Laminate is really easy to install and I learned over the internet how to install it myself. It didn't work as a professional, but it's pretty good without special tools. I also wrote a text about it

Hi TJ
Yes nailing through the floating floor can cause problems, as it would lock the floating floor to the subfloor. If you know the gap between the floating floor and the wall is good (around 1/4 inch), nailing your quarter round at a 45 degree angle should clear the floating floor. I like my nails to hit the bottom of the wall when nailing the quarter round.

Hope this helps some
Anthony
